How to enhance survival rate?

  1. Before embarking on a hike, ensure that you have a satellite positioning device (or global positioning system, GPS) or satellite phone (or mobile phone) and familiarize yourself with their functionalities. Also, don’t forget to bring essential medications, reflectors, a whistle and spare batteries.
  2. If you get lost, stay calm. Report the incident to 110, 112, 119, local national park, forestry bureau or management unit, and provide your coordinates. Refrain from panicking or attempting to navigate. Conserve your energy and reduce the risk of accidents.
  3. If you become separated from your team, consider the following options: return to the original trail, seek shelter and await rescue, create visible marks in open areas or on tree trunks, or use reflectors and whistles to attract the attention of rescue personnel.
